Woking & Sam Beare Hospice are pleased to announce the following volunteer Roles:

Retail Assistants

We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to thousands of people each year with advanced life-limiting illnesses who live in Northwest Surrey, also providing support to their careers and families inpatient homes, in care or nursing homes or through its In-Patient Unit in the Hospice; as well as through the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.

You will, therefore, be joining a passionate and dedicated team of professionals that make a real difference to the families across Surrey community.

“I love that my role means so much to me personally. I really feel like I am giving something back”

Volunteer Colleague

Currently our greatest need is in our retail shops – it’s a great way to start your volunteer service with us as our shops are a key element to raising much needed funds for the hospice.

A retail role is varied and it will include sorting donations, recording gift aid, preparing stock for sale, meeting customers, staffing the till, ensuring the shop floor is clean tidy and neat. Finally lots of tea!

Retail roles generally are 9 am-1 pm or 1 pm-5 pm with slightly shorter hours on a Sunday. We can at times have flexibility around the exact hours you volunteer.

We do take Duke of Edinburgh volunteers in our retail outlet – however you must be 16 or older and able to commit to a minimum of two hours per week.

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who can engage with people of all ages and from all walks of life to join our teams.

Our shops are located throughout North Surrey, and if you are interested you can pop into your local shop speak to the manager/assistant manager to find out more about the role and vacancies. Our shops have application forms or you can download the application form below, email it to us at [email protected]  and the shop manager will arrange an informal interview.

What are the benefits to you?

  • The opportunity to support Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and help raise funds towards our work
  • A chance to work with a friendly supportive team of likeminded people
  • An opportunity to network and meet other staff/volunteers
  • Full training will be provided

If you would like to join the team of volunteers or have any questions, we would love to hear from you.
