Woking Hospice Founder & Life President
Rhod is our Founder and Lifetime President.
Rhod retired from Esso after 32 years’ service, during which time he also served 12 years as a Borough Councillor and launched the appeal to fund building the original Woking Hospice when he became Mayor in 1990. He raised £1.4million to build and open the Hospice at Hill View Road, Woking, in 1996 and to conserve funds he also ran the Hospice as a volunteer for the first three years.
Rhod remained as Board Chairman until 2007, then stood down to continue as a Trustee until the end of 2019.
Rhod’s wife Elizabeth is also a long-standing supporter of the Hospice.
