Phil Wormley MInstF

Director of Fundraising

Phil joined Woking & Sam Beare Hospices as the Director of Fundraising in March 2017. He has worked within the fundraising and charity sector for over 16 years starting his career at the NSPCC as a Regional Campaign Manager for the Full Stop Appeal.

Prior to being a fundraiser Phil started out in advertising and marketing after graduating with a Business and Marketing degree from Southampton University, where he also achieved qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Phil’s first step in to fundraising at the NSPCC enabled him to gain considerable knowledge of all disciplines in the sector under the tutorage of leading and highly respected figures such as Giles Pegram. A move to Marie Curie Cancer Care saw Phil specialise in the corporate arena as Head of their Corporate Fundraising team, where he secured major new partnerships with the likes of Tesco, Homebase and BAA Heathrow – all were ground breaking initiatives for their time.

More recently Phil managed the fundraising team for a national educational charity Dyslexia Action, and as a consultant Phil has shared his knowledge and expertise within the sector to support both the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and Clic Sargeant prior to them securing the Tesco charity of the year. He has worked with Habitat for Humanity, The Brain tumour Charity, ICAN and the British Dyslexia Association to develop their respective fundraising strategies.

Phil is now proud to be working for his local charity and has high ambitions to grow the income and help position the fundraising team at the forefront of the hospice sector.
