Sorella Hair raise funds in memory of Nicky Newman
After the Hospice cared for her wonderful friend, Nicky, recently, Jo Moulton, co-owner of Sorella Hair Salon, decided to host an event to raise money in her memory.
“I met Nicky at work a few years ago,” says Jo. “We immediately clicked and had so much fun together. She had such a fabulous attitude to life, and I wanted to do something to embrace this and raise money for both the Hospice and the Royal Surrey Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service.”
It was also important for Jo and her team at Sorella to support the Hospice as we cared for the father of one of their apprentices a few months ago.
“When people heard what we were doing, they were so supportive,” says Jo. “Local businesses made donations for a prize draw as did a lot of our suppliers. Lots of people also wanted to help us out by donating cakes.”
Everyone at the salon was keen to get involved as they busied themselves doing hair glitter, temporary tattoos, face painting, and nail art. In just four hours, they raised over £3000 as people visited the salon in Knaphill to show their support.
We are incredibly grateful to Jo and the team at Sorella for the £1599 that they donated to the Hospice. This equates to eighty-four hours of care for a patient in the In-patient Unit.
