Running in memory at the Festive Fun Run
In two weeks time, Michelle and her family will be running in the Festive Fun Run. This year will be their 7th Festive Fun Run in memory of their loved one, Darren, affectionately known as Cookie.
“This year, Shaun, Jade and I will be taking part in the Festive Fun Run on the 11th of December. We are supporting Woking Hospice as they cared so well for Cookie [Darren] when he was poorly, and we want to raise as much money as possible for such a great charity.
I first met Darren at secondary school. After going our separate ways, we literally bumped into each other at Goldsworth Park, started seeing each other and fell in love. Darren was the kindest, most caring and most generous person you could ever meet. When Darren was taken poorly, he went into Woking Hospice. We will always be very grateful to have Woking Hospice as part of our lives during the last few days of his life. The support we received from the nursing staff was fantastic. Unless you have experienced it, you cannot fully understand what a hospice will do for you. Woking Hospice – you are amazing.
This year it will be our 7th Festive Santa fun run and we are so pleased to be taking part in this brilliant event while raising funds for such a great cause.”
There is still time to register your place online.
Will you join us on Sunday, 11th December at Woking Leisure Centre?
This event is the perfect opportunity to gather the family, get dressed up in your festive best and for a fun day out whilst supporting your local hospice charity.
It is suitable for all ages and abilities to take part in as it is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, and well-behaved dogs on their leads are welcome to join in too.
For the full event details, visit our event page online.
Also available on the day is our Hospice Christmas Market – the perfect opportunity to do some Christmas shopping after you have finished or while you cheer on the participants.
The Christmas Market will be offering lots of goodies for everyone to enjoy and the chance to get some things ticked off your Christmas list.
