Sky Sports Commentator Richard Boxall raises over £35,000 at Charity Golf Day
We are delighted to share that Richard Boxall’s Charity Golf Day was a huge success raising in excess of £35,000 for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care.
In memory of his late Dad Colin who was cared for by the Hospice Sky Sports Golf Commentator Richard Boxall hosted a Golf Day at Foxhills Country and Golf Resort on 15th October 2019.
Richard was joined by his Sky Sports Colleague Robert Lee and together they provided a masterclass session for the 72 players who took part. Then after 18-holes of golf, members of Richard Boxall’s family joined the players for dinner. Guests were treated to a question and answers session with both Richard and Robert entitled ‘Team Europe the Ryder Cup, one year on, one year to go’.
Richard Boxall comments: “My family benefited personally from the exceptional care provided by Woking & Sam Beare at what was an extremely difficult time for us when they cared for my Dad. So I was absolutely delighted to host this very special golf day in support of this amazing local Charity. I would like to personally thank my friend Julian Wakeling [Volunteer Golf Ambassador at Woking Hospice] who orchestrated everything and made the day possible.”
Julian Wakeling adds: “Helping Richard to organise his day has been a truly amazing and rewarding experience with a fantastic outcome. The money we have raised will make a meaningful difference to our Hospice. Golf has the power to bring our community together and I would like to especially thank our Sponsors and Partners who include Foxhills, Golfbreaks.com, The European Tour Foundation, Kia West End Garage, The Brickmakers Arms, Windlesham and Chennai Dosa Artisanz.”
Marian Imrie, CEO of Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care, comments: “As a charity we are reliant on fundraising income from events like this golf day. The Hospice is extremely grateful to Richard Boxall, his family, Robert Lee and to Julian Wakeling and on behalf of all those Surrey families that will benefit from the significant amount of money raised I would like to thank all the companies and individuals who generously donated, contributed prizes, took part on the day, bought raffle tickets and for their generous bids on the auction prizes.”
