New hospice passed CQC inspection
We’re delighted to announce that your brand new state-of-the-art hospice has passed the England independent regulator of health and adult social care’s inspection.
The Care Quality Commission [CQC] ensures that health and social care services across England provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care. They have expected the new build at Goldsworth Park Centre, Woking, which means that we can now register the new facility and by the end of May patients can start to be admitted.
Jayne Cooper, Interim CEO and Director of Nursing, commented: “As a patient-centred charity, those we care for and their families are at the heart at everything we do. So I am exceptionally proud to have all our hard work validated by such a positive CQC inspection.
“We could not achieved all we have without such a fantastic team of staff and volunteers, but also because of the generosity of the communities across Surrey who have supported our New Build Appeal. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you.”
Woking & Sam Beare Hospices has put together a very thorough transition programme to ensure that patients are admitted to the new hospice, or transferred from the original hospice in Hill View Road, safely and with as little disruption as possible. All patients effected by this will have received information and guidance. However, should patients, carers or family and friends have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
In-patients: 01483 881750
Woking Community Team [Woking]: 01483 881755
Sam Beare Community Team [Weybridge]: 01932 598385
The Woking Community Team will be based at the new hospice, but the Sam Beare Community Team will remain in Weybridge and both teams will be continuing to care for over 70% of our patients in their own homes.
For anyone that would still like to support our hospice there are still funding opportunities available. From a £20 donation to pay for specialist coat hangers to help infection control, to £5,000 for a specialist bed host, every penny enables the hospice to deliver care to over 1,400 patients each year.
