Kate Craddock – Marathon 2024
The Hospice came into the lives of Kate and her family four years ago, whilst caring for her dad, Martin Pope.
“I refer to the Hospice team as angels,” says Kate. “They made the most difficult situation somewhat more negotiable and doing it alone without them would have been a completely different experience. Every single one of them was just the most caring person.”
Following this support, Kate and her mum want to give back as much as they can to help the Hospice continue to give others outstanding care like their family received. They are always donating to the warehouse, and volunteer wherever they can. Being an avid runner, Kate thought what better way to show her support than to run the London Marathon to raise valuable funds.
Kate has been training hard, fitting in four shorter runs during the week and then a longer one at the weekend.
“My first aim is to get round in one piece and my second aim is to finish in under five hours – I’ll maybe even stretch this to four and a half,” says Kate.
A WhatsApp group between Kate and the other Hospice runners has kept morale high as they share tips and progress reports. Wearing their Hospice vests, they’ll be championing each other on the day as our Hospice staff cheer them on from the sidelines.
