Golf Pro Richard Boxall supports hospice
Former English professional golfer and now leading Sky Sports golf commentator Richard Boxall recently visited Woking Hospice to show his support for our 2019 appeal. He shared an update on his upcoming charity golf day, which will take place at Foxhills Golf Club on the 15 October.
Richard has first hand experience of our care, as his father was submitted to Woking Hospice in 2012. He was taken back by the high quality of care that both his father and his family received. “Everyone was so kind it was incredible, but I as astounded by how much it costs to run the hospice, about 15,000 a day, which I never really knew.”
As a way of giving back Richard is now hosting his charity golf day on the 15 October and hopes it will raise £50,000 to sponsor a patient room at the hospice and have it named after his father – Colin Boxall.
“I really want the day to work, because I was absolutely astounded by the care and how good everyone was at the hospice. It’s my way to give back as they were sensational.”
