An Exciting Visit From Paul Weller

On Monday 20th March Woking & Sam Beare Hospice was excited to welcome some very special visitors, Paul Weller and his Mum Ann. The visit was postponed due to COVID but on a beautiful sunny day they visited to officially rename the wildlife garden at the hospice the “Wild Wood Garden” after Paul Weller’s 1993 album of the same name.

We feel honoured that Paul took time out from rehearsals for his upcoming tour to meet with our hospice staff, who talked with Paul and his Mum about the hospice and the care that we provide to the local community.

To mark the new name of the Wild Wood Garden the hospice was presented with a beautiful wooden plaque that was designed and created by Arron Harbutt and made by MJC Precision, which features in the garden, along with a wooden painting that will be displayed in the Garden Café at the hospice. 

As part of the Wild Wood Garden project there is limited edition merchandise available that will be sold in aid of the hospice the Wild Wood Garden Mug and the English Rose pin badge have been designed by Steve Wheatley from This Is Now Design. The Wild Wood Garden artwork (a print of which was presented to Paul) visually references ten of Paul’s song titles within the design. The limited edition souvenir mugs & ‘English Rose’ enamel pin badges are directly derived from this artwork.

The Wild Wood mug and English Rose pin badges will be available to purchase through our online shop or via the This Is Now website. £4.00 from each product purchased will be donated to the hospice.
