A wonderful day for a spot of gardening

We are thrilled to be able to share the news that the garden to the rear of the hospice has been transformed today [Friday 20 September], as our fabulous volunteers have been out in force in today’s sunshine to commence the planting of what will be our new ‘Wildwood Garden’.

We are immensely grateful to all those who have donated towards this garden development project, as well as those who have given their time, skills and expertise to make this project happen.

As part of their CSR [Corporate Social Responsibility], a team from specialist contractor Natta Building Company Ltd came in and did the groundwork and hard landscaping in August. They not only provided all the manpower but also all the materials and machinery.

Garden designer Valerie Amos, who has done the landscape designs, assisted by Cathie Brooks-Welch, a local Ash Horticultural consultant, and our team of wonderful garden volunteers, together with nine Horticultural team members, have all done such an excellent job of planting today.

Phil Wormley, Head of Fundraising, comments: “On behalf of the hospice and the patients that will benefit from having an enhanced environment because of what is now transformed into such a beautiful space, and where wildlife can thrive, I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that has made this project happen – it really has been a community team effort.”
