Running for good

As Chairman I’m very conscious of the exceptional end of life care we provide every year to the communities of North West Surrey. Last year we supported over 2,000 patients, delivering around 70% of our care to patients in their homes.

I’m equally aware of the need to raise the profile of the hospices to both inform people better of the care available and to raise the funds needed to ensure we are able to meet the growing demand for our work.

I’m therefore proud to be running the 2019 London Marathon to help raise funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice. My target is to raise over £5,000 which equates to over three days of care for a patient with life limiting illnesses in our community.

On Saturday, 2 March I ran my first 15 mile training run. For fun and to help raise the profile of the hospice I included very short and slightly sweaty visits to our retail shops in West Byfleet, Woking, Goldsworth Park (Woking) and Horsell. I also stopped off in our hospice on Goldsworth Park, where I met our volunteer receptionists and just two of our brilliant nurses!

You can read more about my current fundraising efforts for the hospice on my JustGiving page.

Thank you for supporting the hospice and the vital care it delivers to the local community.
