Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week from the 15th-21st May, 2023.

This year the focus is on ‘Anxiety’ to help increase awareness and understanding of anxiety and think about things we can do to help us feel calmer and happier.
Having some anxiety or worries is totally normal. But sometimes, our thoughts can get carried away, and our worries can get on top of us. There are many things that can trigger anxiety including exam pressures, relationships, starting a new job (or losing one) or other big life events such as losing a loved one or facing a terminal illness yourself.
On a positive note, there are lots of things we can do to help us feel less anxious. One very simple way is with kindness and understanding.

At Woking & Sam Beare Hospice we often talk about the patient journey and in the counselling team this refers to the different emotions that are experienced during the course of your illness.

Our counselling service aims to offer you the time and space to talk through whatever anxieties or concerns you may be experiencing. Our team of specially trained professionals have many years’ of experience and they provide a supportive, confidential and safe environment.

The Hospice also supports Patients and their loved ones under our care through our Wellbeing Centre, which is based in the hospice building, they run group sessions where you can meet with others living through similar circumstances having the opportunity to talk through any concerns you may be experiencing can help to relieve anxiety or sometimes it’s just to know you are not alone. Our Wellbeing Team are on hand to support and provide holistic care including a range of Complementary Therapies.
